What would make a good entertainment type center for a big screen tv?

We have a 64 inch big screen and are trying to figgure out what will be a better storage and shelving option other than what we have now. WE currently use our coffee table for part of our components and a end table for the others with storage on an old entertainment center. we got rid of the old entertainment center. I was thinking about getting a audio tower type thing or a bakers rack that way we dont have to ruin a bookshelf... I want the coffee and end table back! I havnt seen a good tower type thing latley...we dont have a need to store DVDs, games and videos on this either. WE have an old nintendo display we use for that.

Go to Walmart or any place else that sells bookshelves cheap-usually 3 shelf that stand about3' high. buy two of them, build them, stand them sided to side then use any old plywood or scrap boarding of your choice to run across both so you have one continual surface. You can throw fabric or decorate around the top any 'ole way you want in case this top board isn't attractive. Put the TV on top then you can use all the shelves below any way you want-for DVDs, components or just normal room decorations. I've done this for all my TVs because I didn't want to buy the crazy/ugly/expensive stands I saw for sale in all the stores. these stands only cost about $19 each at Walmart!!! The plywood was just scrap in the garage, cost = $0!!! if the plywood/topboard wants to move just buy a pack of the large 2" office paperwork clamps to clamp the board to the top of the bookshelves, cost=$3 apx.
-so much cheaper than all the crap in the stores
-probably just as sturdy if not more
-versatile since you can move all the shelves around to fit whatever you have for it
-easy to build or take down
-easy access to the back if you don't put the fake backboard on each shelf unit especially if you have to get behind to do some rewiring/setup/takedown (if you've left enough room for yourself between the shelves and wall)
