We are renting a house right now and I think there used to be a patio all around the house and they tore it down because now there is sand all around the house, our problem is that whenever we go outside in our yard and come back inside we track sand back into the house, and lots of it! I end up sweeping and vacuuming at the front door at least 5 times a day.. now that its summer we would like to have a little patio area with a bbq and table set, what can we put over the sand to make a solid floor base without spending hundreds??
a heavy tarp might work if it's just for a few weeks.
bricks or paving tiles. They're not cheap, but you can take them with you when you move.
