We're having the place cards on a table outside the ballroom (it will be set up in the cocktail area). We wanted to have a unique idea for placement of the place cards or a different idea for how guests can pick up there cards. any suggestions??
How about hanging like little ornaments off of a small tree? you can make a "place card tree" by spray-painting a tree branch white and sticking it in a pot full of Plaster of Paris- then just tie little ribbons onto the place cards, decorate the tree with them, and let people take them off of the tree.
Or, instead of place cards, have photos of all the guests in little frames. They'll have to go to the table, look for their photo, and take it back to their table with them. it also serves as a cute favor. Of course, if it's a big wedding and you don't know every single guest well enough to have photos of them, it could be hard.
Ok, make a fake wedding cake (not too big). then take white bows and out them in the cards. put the cars on the cake and bam! how adorbale! or,Get some picture frames engraved and put the peoples pictures in them and set the card below. the picture frame MUST have a stand and be standing up.
I like the tree idea. I have seen fun ways to label tables. A wedding I was at used the names of wines. you could use anything really breeds of dogs (if you're into that kind of stuff) fish, states, islands whatever. anything is more interesting than just boring old numbers.
Here are some beautiful ideas for you:

My cousin had her place cards on a white table, with fresh rose petals scattered around them, and champagne for each of the guests to take with a strawberry in the bottom of the glass. it was very elegant, and different.
I'm looking for unique ideas for our place card table. ?
