Going green in your house doesn't mean you need to have everything in the house made out of old cans and bottles. While there are plenty of houses where people have taken green living to extremes, you don't necessarily have to give up your preferred style and decorative tastes just because you are trying to be a little more eco-friendly.
When it comes to furniture in your home, you can still be environmentally friendly while still getting the pieces you need to complete the look of any space in your home.
While many people think environmentally friendly means they have to get something that was made of recycled materials, there are other ways to be a little greener in your furniture selection.
Making Something Old New Again
If you could save a piece of furniture that was on its way to the landfill, that is a great start at being a little more green in your house décor. This is easy enough to do. There are plenty of people holding yard sales, moving sales and garage sales every weekend.
Many of the people holding these sales have old end tables they just no longer need. This does not mean there is anything wrong with the end tables, just that they have decided they don't want them anymore. Perhaps they have changed the theme to the living room and these end tables no longer fit in.
They are going to try and sell them off at the garage sale. but often at the end of the weekend, if these items don't sell, they end up pushed down to the curb to be taken to the local landfill and disposed of.
If you pick up your end tables at this sale that will be a few pieces of furniture that will still continue to live a useful life and not end up clogging up our landfills. Additionally, chances are you will get a great deal on the end tables since the owner no longer wants them and they are used.
Another place to look for old end tables that can take on new life in your home is at thrift stores. Most thrift stores are charity businesses. Items are donated to the thrift store and as they sell the items they are able to keep the money they make on the sale.
The only way this system works well is if they keep things coming in and going out at a good pace. This means they will offer great deals on the things they have for sale, this is especially the case with furniture items like end tables, as these items take up much more floor space that other saleable items could be occupying. For this reason you may be able to go into a thrift store and find great end tables that are still in beautiful condition for pennies on the dollar compared to what you would normally pay. if you think they are marked a little high, you may even be able to talk the store down a little bit, as they want to make a sale.

I'd say it is most likely the latter...that they just don't want to be accused of being polluters
however, going green like using less paper no matter how little the modification may be...can save a lot of money for a company.
if you're literally asking what it means when a business goes green...they become more environmentally friendly, pollute less, recycle, waste less, and/or alter the earth less/decrease their footprint on the earth.
