End Tables – By Any Other Name are Just as Sweet

Just because pieces of furniture don't have a label that call them end tables doesn't mean they can't play the role of end tables. When you are decorating, you should not feel locked in to using one specific style of furniture to complete your room. this article will show you that end tables are in the eye of the beholder.

Consider these other items that could become your next set of end tables:

Nightstands - Today, many nightstands are just a slight jump from end tables anyway. sometimes, you may even wonder if the furniture store didn't just create a new label to call what really was a set of end tables a pair of nightstands or visa versa. If they fit the bill, don't worry if they say they are supposed to be in the bedroom.

Wooden or Metal Chest - Nautical styling is in and many furniture décor stores are offering a wide variety of beautiful chests in both wood and metal for home accents. But why not make them functional as well as an accent. a pair of tall chests at the ends of your sofa or between your furniture settings can create a great set of decorative end tables. you can also make end tables out of a series of stacked graduated chests.

Barrels - in this day and age of rustic décor popularity, why not take the theme to your end tables, through barrels. for a real county look, consider a couple of old whiskey barrels as end tables. many a barrel are finished and sealed to make them attractive, and very sturdy, end table additions. If you really want to make the look fun, you can get blank barrels and write your own words on the side, with your family name or other phrase that means something to you and your family. you can even have a piece of glass to fit in the end to have a glass top.

Ornate Bar Stool - not all seats are made for sitting. I'm sure you've seen them from time to time, ornate bar stools with wooden tops that, with all that detailing, look much more like small end tables than barstools. well, why shouldn't they be? No one needs to know they were originally supposed to be barstools. As soon as you put them to work as end tables, that is what everyone will think they are. If you have a little do-it-yourself know-how you may even be able to find a way to make those rungs on the barstools become shelves to make them all-purpose end tables.

Multimedia cabinet - these are not just for DVD's and VHS's anymore. there are so many different kinds of multimedia cabinets that can hold all of your CD's, DVD's and even any of those VHS's you have hanging around, and you can still use the tops to hold things like the TV guide for when you want to watch something other than pre-recorded movies. Multimedia cabinets as end tables offer tabletop space as well as the storage of items you want nearby when you're sitting in the TV room.
